About us
A sanctuary where every animal has a name
We are a non-profit animal protection association. At our sanctuary in Alcochete, dogs, horses, pigs, sheep and other animals get back the time and trust they need.

Our story
How it all began
Animais Sem Fronteiras is an association that defends animal rights. The sanctuary is in Alcochete, in the district of Setúbal, on a 15-hectare farm that is home to dogs, pigs, cows, goats, sheep and other animals.
It was founded to take in and rehabilitate stray animals and animals with special needs. They live here as sanctuary residents, free from any kind of exploitation: every day they get healthcare and food, in an environment of freedom and love.
We welcome visitors and offer sponsorship and adoption to anyone who wants to join us.
“A place of love and calm, where the animals walk, play and live in freedom.”
— Marina Praetere, President of the Board

Mission
What we do
We give every animal the time and space it needs. Those who can go on to a family, and we stay close by. Those who can't stay with us for good.
Mission
To rescue, rehabilitate and care for abandoned and stray animals and animals with special needs. To find families for those who can be adopted and a home for life for those who can't.
Vision
A society where no animal is abandoned or exploited, and where each one is respected for who they are: someone with a name, a story and a character.
Values
- Respect: every animal is an individual, never a product.
- Responsibility: we only take in the animals we can care for well, and we follow up on every adoption.
- Freedom: space, time and calm for each one to recover at their own pace.
- Transparency: we show how the animals live and how we use the support we receive.
- Community: the sanctuary is built with volunteers, foster families, sponsors and members.
Adoption with follow-up
You meet the animal before deciding and, afterwards, you're not left without support: we follow up during the first 3 months.
